KOLHAPUR: With the academic year beginning in June and the admission drive under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 underway, the education department has planned to make the awareness-cum-enrolment drive a success.
The primary education department of the Kolhapur zilla parishad (ZP) has planned a school enrollment drive for children aged between 6 and 14 years on the occasion of Gudi Padwa across the district on Monday.
“Gudipadwa marks the beginning of the Marathi New Year across the state and is a good day to start such an initiative. All block development officers (BDOs) have been instructed about the initiative at last week’s meeting. It will be promoted under the slogan of ‘Gudipadwa: Shala Pravesh Vadhva’ (increase enrolment in schools).”- ZP chief executive officer (CEO) Vijay Suryavanshi.”We had asked every ZP school in the district to prepare a pamphlet, which would act as an advertisement. It would make parents aware of features of schools in their vicinity,” he added further.
