There were quite a lot updates in the admission form of DU where the students also got an option to select the preferred college out of a list of selected colleges. The admission process for undergraduate is almost round the corner that is it will start from June 2, 2014. For the option of selecting the preferred college, the students are now not allowed. A varsity official has announced that Delhi University has made a decision to remove the college selection option from both its online and offline admission forms.
The reason behind removing the option is the outcomes were not satisfactory earlier. There have been certain complaints in the past where student getting very high percentage have suffered because they chose just two-three colleges and once cut-offs were out, they failed to get admissions. And to avoid such problems, the college selection option has been revisited.
Also, the choice of selecting a college in the Optical Mark Registration form was removed last year after the varsity introduced a four year undergraduate programme.
However, when the admission guidelines were introduced earlier this month, DU said students would be able to choose their colleges too. There are 77 colleges under the varsity.
College says that they have simplified the problem for the students so that they can make easy selection and do not face any problem. This was said by the joint dean of students’ welfare and media coordinator at DU- Malay Neerav.
The application forms for DU undergraduate admissions will be available from June 2, 2014 and are to be submitted by June 16, 2014.
