The Aurangabad division recorded 90.98% pass percentage in the HSC examination result declared on Monday afternoon and was ranked fourth among the nine divisions in the state. The division has recorded its best performance since 2008, when the pass percentage was 89.86.
Over 1.11 lakh students had appeared for the HSC examinations from the division conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in February-March 2014. Last year, the division recorded 85% pass percentage and was ranked second after Konkan division.
The divisional chairman of the education board was also happy with the news and said the result in the Aurangabad division has shown an improvement of almost 5% this year. The number of students securing first class has also increased compared with last year.
Among the five districts under the Aurangabad division, Beed has recorded the highest passing percentage of 92.36, followed by Aurangabad with 91.24%, Hingoli with 90.71%, Jalna with 89.87% and Parbhani registering the lowest with 80.66%.”
The girls in the division have again outscored boys by 4.14%. The girls recorded a passing percentage of 93.61% as against 89.47% recorded by boys. The division has scored 94.44% result in science stream, 91.44% in Commerce, 88.06% in Arts and 88.49% in MCVC stream further he adds
Improvement in pass percentage was also seen this year
The division also witnessed improvement in the passing percentage of repeater students. The pass percentage for repeater students was 34.16 compared with 29.26 last year. Around 7,196 students had appeared across the five districts in the division out of which 2,458 candidates passed in the state board examination. As compared with boys, the girls have excelled by 5.1% among repeater students.
The Latur division board recorded 90.60% pass percentage as against the score of 83.54% last year. As many as 67, 184 appeared for the examination from the three districts of Latur, Osmanabad and Nanded district and 66, 996 were declared successful in the division.
It is a first instance for the Maharashtra state board of secondary and higher secondary education, over 90% of the students who took the class XII (HSC) have passed. Of the 11,98,859 students who appeared for the exam across the state, 10,79,332 passed for an overall success rate of 90.03%.
