NEST is conducted by National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai for admissions to five-year integrated Master of Sciences (MSc) programmes. It is a mandatory exam.
The exam was conducted on 31st May. It was a multiple choice objective type exam. The test was taken in 45 towns across India and the duration of the exam was 3 hours i.e 10 am to 1 pm.
NEST is divided into 5 sections.
Section 1– General Science to test candidate’s awareness of basic scientific facts and ability to comprehend and reason.
Section 2 to 5: Specific subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Out of all sections, the candidate has to appear for 3 sections compulsory. Negative marking applicable.
