Students interested to study law courses at Gauhati University can apply for academic year 2014-15 without any age limit. After Allahabad University, it is Gauhati University that decides to scrap off the age limit form the norms to admission.
According to the Registrar at Gauhati University, Dutta, aspirants who have scored the minimum marks required can apply for two courses in law under the Gauhati University.
Earlier the eligibility for both the courses was that the candidates should have scored a minimum of 45 per cent in their bachelor’s degree if they belong to the general category. For scheduled cast (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) there will be a relaxation by 5 per cent. Plus the candidates can apply only if are of 20 years and 30 years respectively for both the courses.
However, this year onwards the age limit has been scrapped off that means it is not compulsory for the student to be 20 and 30 years for both the subjects. But the minimum marks required are compulsory for every candidate.
The recent notification issued by GU allowing aspirants of any age to apply for the two courses has brought cheer to all those who dream of becoming lawyers, but left their studies years ago.
