After the Budget was announced, it was decided that there will new IIMs coming in the country. As far as IIM for Punjab is considered, it is planned to set up in Amritsar as per the deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The IIM for Punjab is announced to be set up in Amritsar as per the Union Budget. The finance Minister declared to include Amritsar in the National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojna. This step has further given an encouragement for the development of the holy city. Looking to this, the needed impetus will be served towards the completion of the Kolkata-Amritsar industrial corridor.
The Union Budget had spelt the end of an era of discrimination against Punjab at the hands of the Congress-led UPA.
Till now, no initiatives for the state have been seen for the state, but for the first time in the decade due attention is received to Punjab and Amritsar.
Before the declaration of the decision the Union Cabinet minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal paid obeisance at the Golden Temple and partook in the bhog of Akhand Path.
