The campaign has been brought forward by the HRD Ministry. The Ministry will be closed and the HRD Minister and other top executives to the rank of deputy secretary will join the process of Swach Bharat which includes cleaning activities. The location is Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas across the national capital. Officials in the higher education division will be at the universities as part of the clean-up drive.
The campaign reaches its climax on the birth anniversary of Sar4dar Vallabhbhai Patel which is on October 31st. In between the days, Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary will arrive which falls on October 2nd. The drive will be celebrated with lots of show and joy.
The drive will include lots of cleaning activities and stories related to cleaning to ensure that the exercises are not confided to one day. The stories will be shared by the educational institutions. Moreover, they will also have to ask at least five questions related to hygiene and cleanliness.
They will also maintain the Shastri Bhavan and later will also publish images on the website of the building before and after the cleanliness activities.
The focus is so sharp on the cleanliness process that an additional secretary has been given the task of turning shastri Bhavan into a case study of cleanliness. Officials will be asked to spare at least 100 hours of voluntary work each year.
During the launch of the campaign, the focus will also be on the schools wherein the HRD Minister Smriti Irani along with the secretary of the school Rajrishi Bhattacharya will pick up broom at the Kendriya Vidalia, RK Puram. Furthermore, Officials will be present across the city from Andrews Ganj in South Delhi to four branches of KVs in Delhi Cantonment and KVs/NVsRangpuri, Tughlakabad, Vasant Kunj, JNU, Khichripur and many other places. The minister and her officials will be at school at seven to be present during the morning assembly. It will consist of prayer, pledge, discussions on Gandhi’s thoughts on cleanliness. For an hour from 7.30, Irani and officers will get involved in cleaning up classrooms, corridors and toilets. Students, teachers, parents, school management committee members, officers of KVS and Navodaya Vidyalayas will assist the HRD minister and officials. Officials will return to work in their ministries later in the day.
