Well known Tata Group comes up with yet another contribution to the people. TISS, Tata Institute of Social Sciences launches its school of vocational education programme with an aim to create skilled workforce.
The focus is on imparting knowledge in such a way by creating a unique model to spread skill development in every nook and corner of the country. Regarding this the courses have been designed in such a way that it improves the lives of the disadvantaged and people who are excluded from the regular school education system. TISS Director S Parasuraman says that it has been set up to create an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labour for blue collar streams and create a sustainable source of income.
The framework of the model was conceptualized earlier in 2011 followed with activities such as entailed identifying partners, developing courses, curriculum and content as well as the entire supporting mechanism. Thus, collectively creating a unique model to develop skill development.
This project has been initiated under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) proposed by Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Such type of vocational educational programme will first time be implemented in India. The Deputy Director Neela Dabir said that rather than providing only a broad based education, the focus will be job specific.
Through this ‘earn while you learn’ model, the trainee may also earn a stipend during the on-the-job duration of the course. The courses will be conducted pan India through hub partners, supporting effective delivery of classroom based inputs and skill knowledge partners, an industry partner who will provide on the job training, the release said.
