The AP Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, brings to knowledge that the Centre has approved the proposed site for AIIMS that is All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Mangalagiri.
For this, there is also a committee formed of two members for this. The committee will soon submit a detailed report to the Centre. The Centre provides guideline for stipulated minimum land of 200 acres is required for setting up of the AIIMs but the Union Health Minister has approved the site at Mangalagiri though it is spread over 193 acres. Works on this prestigious project will begin shortly.
The location of the AIIMS will be on the TB sanatorium land in Guntur says Srinivas. The cost estimated for the construction of the hospital is Rs 1500 crore. From which the Centre has already allocated Rs 125 crore to take care of the initial works. . He said the 500-bed superspecialty hospital will be a boon to the region and it will serve the needs of the entire AP.
He said the state government is also keen on developing a cancer hospital at Chinakakani. He visited the government general hospital (GGH) and inaugurated the new operation theatres donated by Rotary Club. Later, Srinivas visited Fever hospital on Amaravati road and inspected the facilities there.
