The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (abbreviated IITB or IIT Bombay) is a public engineering institution located in Powai, Mumbai, India.
In global rankings, IIT Bombay has emerged as India’s top university. Founded in 1958, it is the second-oldest institute of the Indian Institutes of Technology system. In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as Institutes of National Importance.
Declaring on the website the answer to “Where can I get an education that I can value throughout my life?”, IIT Bombay has proved them fit to this question. When Facebook came with its highest value package, it was bagged by a student of IIT Bombay. Out of the top three students of IIT, it was the female student who achieved this offer.
As the female students who opt for computer science had been lesser this time, the chances for female students bagging this offer was further less.
A student source explained the same thing that this is the reason why lesser women manage to get the top deal. For example, this year there were only five women in the batch and all of them managed to get a good deal.
Since this is the first phase of placements, companies that have so far been recruiters at IITs include Samsung Korea, Visa In, Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, HUL, ITC, Credit Suisse, McKinsey & Co and BCG, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Xerox.
If the drive continues, there will be a considerable increase in the number of students being placed and 30% increase in international offers.
