IIT-Kanpur 85% students placed successfully

Yes! The four months long placement season has all ended well with around 85% students placed. The premier Institute of India, Indian Institute of Management, Kanpur (IIM-K) wraps up its placements with a number of 1,090 students securing job offers. The placement session for the students of batch 2014-15 started four months back i.e. 1st December 2014 and ended on March 31st 2015.

According to IIT Kanpur officials, around 900 students have found placements during the campus recruitment session. A lot of the students were recruited by leading MNCs in the first month of the placements, with the remaining bagging offers during the second session of the drive, which was held from January to March, 2015.

Another 10% or 100 students will prepare for the Civil Services examinations and around 100 more have chosen public sector companies.

The placements also saw students bagging offers with lucrative pay packages. More than 100 students got job offers during the first three days of the session, as per institute officials. Altogether 153 students of IIT Kanpur received job offers on Day 1.

Moreover, this year, four students have declined offers with eight-figure salaries from a multi-national company. The take-home amount of the offer was for $150,000 (around Rs 93 lakh per annum), plus other incentives/perks, which would have made the total annual package over Rs 1 crore.

Two of these students aspire to pursue higher studies. The other two have opted for lower salary packages from smaller firms (of Rs 50 lakh per annum), seeking professional suitability.

Around 10 IIT Kanpur students from the Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments have been offered salary packages of Rs 1 crore plus.

This year, the participating firms picked more students pursuing Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) plus Master of Technology (M Tech) dual degrees or students from the Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering departments. Such students bagged lucrative offers from global/multinational firms for positions in India or overseas.

Some of the key players were Software majors such as Microsoft, Accenture, TCS, IBM, etc. and e-Commerce firms including Flipkart, and Snapdeal .Consultancy and Engineering companies such as Larsen and Turbo (L & T) as well as start-ups hired from the campus also.
