Eligibility-

Students protest to scrap Aptitude test for UPSC civil services

  The protest was held at north Delhi’s Civil Lines area on Friday, June 27 by the students, who are Civil Service aspirants demanding scrapping of the Aptitude Test (CSAT), the preliminary level to one of the toughest examination in India (UPSC).

The protests led to the shutting down of four metro stations i.e Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Race Course Road and Udyog Bhawan.

The Police department takes action-

A DMRC spokesperson informed that the police was anticipating the protesters to reach till Rajghat and Prime Minister’s residence, the police asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to prohibit the entry and exit from the four metro stations till they receive any further notice.

There was one protest earlier made, last week by the aspirants at the outside the residence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding a four-year age relaxation for appearing in the examinations of these services.

Paper Pattern of UPSC CSAT-

UPSC CSAT comprises of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each and of two hours duration each. The questions will be multiple choice, objective-type.

The main examination is only for candidates who have been shortlisted through the Preliminary CSAT Written Examination. This exam consists of seven papers.

The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the Civil Services Preliminary exam 2014 on 24th August.

The last date for application is June 30.

 From the Civil Services examination onwards, candidates will receive two additional attempts, although even attempting Civil Services Preliminary exam will be considered as having attempted the Civil Services examination overall.  

Vishakhapatnam girl topper of AIIMS MBBS 2014

  The girl is Pattisapu Srividya of Visakhapatnam who has topped the exam adding another feather to her cap. She has topped AIIMS MBBS 2014.Her dream is to research in molecular biology.

Around 2.35 lakh candidates wrote the examination this year. The total number of candidates eligible for the counselling are four times of actual number of seats decided.

Srividya secured all-India 9th rank in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) entrance test, seventh rank in EAMCET, all-India 8th rank in Manipal Medical Entrance Exam, and 59th rank in All-India Pre Medical Test. Her dream is to do research in molecular biology.

Follows her is Vasishta Polisetty, a 17-year-old boy from Hyderabad, got the second rank followed by Rohit Nathani in the third spot.

The physical counselling will be held by the institute from July 8th to July 11th in New Delhi. 

Scoring-

AIMMS MBBS 2014 score will be the basis for admission to 672 MBBS seats in seven AIIMS including AIIMS in New Delhi. Out of 672 MBBS seats in AIIMS, 337 are for unreserved category students.

The institute has decided to conduct physical counselling for the allocation of seats. Candidates will exercise their choice of the Institute when called during the counselling as per their rank in their respective category, notwithstanding what so ever choices he/she has made while filling the application form. Choice thus made will be final and no claim will be entertained in this regard.

Delhi University rolls back its Four Year Undergraduate programme

According to news, the vice-chancellor of Delhi University, Dinesh Singh shares that the University now decides to roll back its controversial four year undergraduate program (FYUP).

Earlier a statement was made by Dinesh Singh talking about the University’s recognition on the need of the hour and the University’s importance to protect the interests of the students by ensuring the start of the admission process.

In line with the directive of UGC, the university has decided to roll back FYUP. Consequently, the admission process shall be conducted under the scheme of courses that were in force in the academic session 2012-13 in all the colleges of the University of Delhi declares Dinesh Singh.

He further adds that it is expected that the principal will understand and speed up the completion of the admission process.

Now the DU agrees that is it ready to start admission process as per three-year undergraduate programme in existence prior to four-year-undergraduate programme which it had mentioned in its earlier compliance.

Earlier, amid the standoff between the university and the UGC, human resource development minister Smriti Irani made it clear that student interests needed to be protected at all costs. She asked all players not to stand on “prestige” and said: “This is the time for statesmanship.”

Members of Delhi University Teachers Association along with the employees of DU held a protest till the Vice-Chancellor’s residence demanding his resignation and rolling back of four year undergraduate program.

MTech in Network Computing includes in TIST, gets approval from AICTE and CUSAT

A daily newspaper reports that The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) have given approval to a new M Tech course in “Network Computing” introduced by Toc-H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) at its Arakkunam campus.

Aim of the course-

The course is designed in a way that caters to the growing demand for professional engineers in various fields.

Duration: two year post graduate course.

Vice Principal of TIST, Prof Babu John says that the courses focuses on acquiring knowledge in multimedia networking, network management, wireless and mobile networks to make the students expert in network engineering.

The uniqueness of the course is that apart from giving prime importance to coding theory, network security and advanced communication technologies, the course also imparts training in information and resources management, cluster and grid computing, cloud computing and big data analysis.

The colleges have already started the preparation by setting up well equipped laboratories for the students to gain hands on experience in computer network and wireless network protocols. 

Exclusive ITIs to be set up exclusively for Women

 ITIs is a measure aimed at ensuring the empowerment of women by helping them gain employment. Regarding this, the centre agrees the proposal made by Punjab Government to set up ITIs for the women of the state. As per the statement made by Punjab Government, Maneka Gandhi, The Union Minister for Women and Child Development accepts this proposal made by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Kapurthala House.

The Minister also assures the CM to fund any scheme aiming the welfare and development of women and children in the state. Not only this, She was impressed upon him to step up “One stop Crisis Centre” in each district that ensures assistance to all women affected with gender crime.

Now the plan to the action. Further she asks for a detailed report of the proposal for the establishment of a network of ITIs across the state for imparting technical and vocational training to women for enabling them to be gainfully employed.

Gandhi hoped the unique initiative would go a long way in instilling a sense of confidence amongst women to live a life with self-respect and dignity besides enormously contributing in the national growth.

The Centre appraised with 250-300 yards of land for the development of these centres the cost of which will be borne by the Centre.

Further the CM of Punjab Government for revision in honorarium of Anganwari workers and helpers under ICDS scheme from Rs 5000 and Rs 2500 per month to Rs 8000 and Rs 4000 per month respectively. Followed by this, he pleaded for introduction of Contributory pension scheme with a minimum monthly contribution of 10 pc honorarium to facilitate retirement of workers and helpers at the age of 60 years, as demanded by Anganwari Unions.
